Campaign Description
The Ratchet Set is an episodic campaign, patterned after the heist movie genre. Influences include films such as Oceans 11 (Both the classic and modern versions) and its sequels; The Sting; Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels; Snatch; The Italian Job (both the classic and modern versions) and TV shows such as Leverage, Burn Notice and White Collar.

As hinted at in the Introduction, the purpose of the campaign is a revenge job by a group of 'Bad Guys with Heart's of Gold' against VIPER. Depending on how well the campaign plays out there may be room for a sequel.

The characters are former members of The Ratchet Set, a team of superpowered thieves led by Francis "Frankie Ratchets" Racietti, a master thief who retired without ever serving a day in prison. The Ratchet Set went their separate ways once Frankie retired. Law Enforcement and the Criminal World consider the members of the Set 'Bush League': They have powers, making them more than 'normal' crooks, but not as powerful as 'Big League' superheroes or villains. In game terms:

Characters are Low-Powered Superheroic as per p. 28 of Fred. Active points for powers are capped at 50 Active pts., with any power over 40 Active requiring at least -1 worth of Limitations. All Stop Sign/Exclamation/Mental and Adjustment Powers are not allowed except with GM permission and a really good explanation. Characters do not have to be superpowered. Any of the Super Skills listed in Dark Champions are perfectly viable.

Powers should lend themselves to characters being master thieves as opposed to combat monsters. That is not to say that there won't be combat, but it will not be the main thrust of the game. A character should be able to hang with a VIPER agent in one-on-one combat, but also run the risk of losing to one. Resistant Defenses are capped at 6/6.

As former/returning members of the Ratchet Set, all Characters receive the following:

Member of the Ratchet Set: Reputation (Law Enforcement/Criminal World) 11-, +2/+2d6 for 2 pts.

Hunted: Agent John Guild. UNTIL 14- (As Pow; NCI; PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find; Watching) for 20 Disad pts.

In addition, all characters MUST take a 20+ Disad that has the potential to foul up the heist.

All characters must be submitted with a written background that explains what they have been doing since the Ratchet Set broke up. I WILL NOT CONSIDER CHARATERS WITHOUT A WRITTEN BACKGROUND!

The tone of the campaign will be like a rated R movie. I don't expect everyone to use the F-word like a comma, but I don't want anyone to be shocked if it comes up in conversation.

And finally, all characters must have a nickname. They can be mafia styled (Johnny the Fence, Jimmy No-Nose, etc), Guy Ritchie styled (Turkish, Brick-Top, One-Two, etc) or anything else that comes to mind. Any character accepted without a nickname will get one provided by the GM...and you might not like what I come up with.
