DARK CHAMPIONS CAMPAIGN (GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND MATURE THEMES)
PC's are Hyper-normals (mutants), Paranormals or Supernatural beings that are willing or unwilling "operatives" for a top secret Global organization known only to a select few as the Studies Observation Group (SOG). This organization leads the way in locating, securing, studying, and if need be "sanctioning" all threats to mankind.

Setting: Present Day, Alternate Historical Time line. The Campaign time will be set in the year of 2010.

Campaign city: The campaign will extend worldwide.

Theme: You are a recruited (willingly or unwillingly) operative of SOG. You search out other "Hyper-normals, Paranormals and supernatural threats to mankind. Usually they are just detained,studied and sometimes they are released if they agree to SOG's terms to not display their "powers" in public or expose SOG. Most of the time the person leaves with a new outlook on life. But, sometimes a different approach is needed and the individual is "sanctioned". Your character may or may not really like what he or she does, but one thing is for sure..it is better than the alternative. One thing you have learned since being with SOG is that SOG has no rules and they do what they want, when they want! No government inquiries, because they don't exist. It is part of your job to keep it that way.

SOG is the ultimate "secret" agency, they literally get away with murder, kidnappings and disappearances all without the public knowledge.

Mood: Grey with a tendency toward the dark side of humanity. Keep in mind that a PC may have to kill in the service of the agency. There will be some mature themes and graphic violence in this game, and if that offends you do not apply to this game.

Characters:

The PC's will be either placed within an "operative"cell that is comprised of multiple characters or they will work solo. The nature of the character will determine how the
PC will be placed within the agency. This is a DARK CHAMPIONS campaign and will have some graphic violence! Please do not submit characters that have a psychological limitation of "Code vs. Killing" that will not work in this game.

Character builds can be hyper-normals, paranormals, supernatural beings.

(Please no robots,cyborgs,demons,angels,or powered armor characters-strictly enforced). I am currently looking for espionage/special ops/covert base type characters.

DEF/rDEF: 12/6 (no resistant defenses over 6, will be enforced)Real Armor must be sectional. GM will make a case by case ruling on each character, but generally I will stay to the standards.

Killing attacks: Standard weapons systems are okay. But, special weapons builds will be closely monitored for game balance.

Characters will have free equipment upon creation, however, all equipment must be approved by GM.

Characters must purchase one of the SOG package deals upon creation of character (Pkg Deals located on the Campaign message thread under "SOG and Unit 13" Organizational information)

Restrictions at the beginning of play:

1. VPP's are not allowed at the beginning of the campaign

2. Hit Locations will be used for all weapon engagements(ranged and HTH type)

* Please have a good background history for your character. The How's and Why's are very important in this game. So, please think about your character's history.

1943	Warsaw Ghetto uprisings. German troops were confronted by animal-looking men and women who lived within the sewers of the Ghetto. The German soldiers were pushed out of the Ghettos, but later came back with reinforcements and destroyed all who remained. However, after the German soldiers searched the ruins they did not find any trace or bodies of the "animal-men". Thinking it was Jewish men and women wearing life-like masks the soldiers did not report the incident any higher.
1945	When British Troops liberated the concentration camp of Bergen-Bergen, they found humans that had particular deformities and exhibited strange abilities. But, these men and women soon died after being released. They also found hundreds of journals written by German Scientist concerning "human mutation" found in some of the Jewish prisoners. These prisoners were moved to a special camp known as "Camp 741" located near Stuttgart, Germany. The journals bore considerable amount of information about genetics and unnatural phenomenons within the prisoner population. Many of those prisoners were immediately executed and the bodies were examined by medical personnel. Most of the journals was written by a Doctor by the name of Gerhardt Spregen. This doctor seemed to be the foremost genetic expert at that time. His notes and theories were far beyond those of his peers. British authorities after collecting all the information from the journals, believe that there where many more journals with even more information. Perhaps Dr. Spregen figured out what these prisoners really were?
1950	First sighting of a Hyper-normal human (Sgt Dennis Mac leon, US ARMY) in Pohang, Korea. Destroyed and entire Korean tank company single handed without any weapons. Was taken into custody for study after the incident. Became the most decorated soldier in history, but actions were "toned-down" for National Security. Was later reported missing in action toward the end of the war. Two years later in American, a woman was found that exhibited powers and abilities that could not be explained by any scientist. She was never seen or heard from again.
1959	A small town was attacked by what was reported as a army of "monsters" from underground. The only survivors were a 11 year old boy and his 15 year sister who had been sexually assaulted by one of the creatures. Later the girl gave birth to a deformed "monstrosity" and she died during the birth of the child. The child somehow disappear and was never seen again. The military sent in a company of National Guardsmen to check the surrounding area of the small town. Communications was lost with the Company, and two more National Guard units were sent in to render assistance to the first. The units reported that it looked as if they entire company just vanished, the only thing they could see was pools of blood and gore in places. Two weeks later after intensive searching was done, a series of caves were found in the surrounding hills. The units deployed inside and found one of the largest nest of deviants within the U.S. It took over three months to completely clean out the caverns of the monstrosities. The government was brought in and the whole incident was covered from the public. Thus, began the first stages of forming SOG. Two unidentified people (a man and a woman) were seen helping the national guardsmen fight the deviants. It is said that these "people" displayed superhuman abilities and powers. The guardsman who seen these people quickly developed amnesia after being briefed by Government agents.
1961	Professor Henry J. Watson writes a secret paper to the government detailing the inevitable rise of the sub-human species, namely mutant kind. This paper outlined the effects that these creatures would have upon the world if allowed to go unchecked. Prof. Watson was the expert of genetics and human evolution. The government was shocked, and classified his paper Top Secret so that the general public would not hear of these matters. In the first few hours of the newly elected President Kennedy, he made the decision to create an agency that would protect mankind of this growing threat. The Department of Human Research and Evolution was born, and millions of dollars were poured into its creation. Professor Watson was chosen to be the first to lead this organization and became known as the "father" of the "Black Paper".
1962	After much deliberation the US Government decides to create a seperate branch of the Human Research and Evolution that will deal with the growing amount of disruptive sub-humans. Thus, The Studies Observation Group is activated. One week after the activation of SOG, Two hyper normals are captured in New York after an intense gun battle. They were attempting to rob a bank in broad daylight. SOG covered it up by saying it was a movie promotional that went wrong. Thirteen officers were hospitalized, two died from massive trauma. SOG leadership begins to view all "sub-humans" as a direct threat and sway Government officials to give them more authorities to provide "preventive" measures to protect the "normal" American citizen. The officials agree and SOG is given authority to "Kill" anyone that they feel is a threat to the security of "normal" men and women in the US. Other countries begin to see a rise in Hyper-normal and paranormal activity. The US and Great Britin form a partnership to assist the other countries with their problems on the condition that they all agree that the public must not know of such beings.
1966	Halloween night in Salem, Mass. An unexpected storm erupts and causes millions of dollars of property damage and over 234 men, women and children lose their lives to this phenomenon storm. Unknown to anyone is that the storm was created by a powerful demonic horde that burst through into our plane of existance. This horde was eventually stopped by an other-dimesional mage known only as the"elder", seeing that this plane had no one to protect it the elder fought the demonic horde single-handly and won. But, knowing that this would only be the beginning the elder cast a spell that would "reawaken" magic in our plane of existance. This spell would also grant others to wield magic as well. Soon the elder travelled the world locating selected individuals to teach them how to use this power and protect the earth from the hidden dangers that now threatens its peace. the master chose several people from various walks of life and began to help them learn the ways of magery. During this time the elder thought that it would be wise to let the US know of the existance of such a powerful force as magic. He travelled to Washington D.C. and proved to President Johnson that magic really does exists and that there is a magical disaster coming to American, if he does not allow the elder to help them. The President agrees, and the elder swears that he will never allow anyone or any being to use magic in a way that will threaten the worlds new found peace. A year later a new sub-division of SOG was created, it was titled: The Parapsychology Research,Studies Group (P.R.S.G) it was lead by the elder who took the name of Mu.
1974	Demon-worshipping cult summons a powerful demon lord into this plane. Demon lord is defeated by the elder's newly formed Council of High Magery. Battle took place in a remote area near North Dakota. Three mages were killed in the battle. SOG begins to gather all of the worlds "precogs" for a top-secret program that will allow them to view the future and prevent any world catastrophes. This program was classified as " Project Prometheus". The program became a resounding success immediately. After two world catastrophes were diverted, the US Government placed the project under the direct control of SOG's Contingency Operations and Plans section. Scientist begin to develop a satellite system that will allow the US to observe any point or person on the face of the earth from space, the system is purely a concept, but many feel that it is possible. The project is classified as "Project Heimdall".
1975-1999	Paranormal, Hyper-normal and supernatural activities hit an all time high. SOG decides to use hyper-normals, paranormal and supernatural beings to help fight the growing menace. Many other countries begin to experience problems with the paranormal, hyper normal, mutants and the supernatural. A coalition is formed to share information and tactics to combat this enemy. This is all done without the public's knowledge. Project Heimdall continues to evolve as the technology changes, many upgrades are made with the system. five active satellites have been launched at this time. But, the project still has many difficulties within the system. At this time SOG does not have the abilities to directly monitor or detect any sub-human species via the project's satellites.
1995-2002	SOG re-organizes and is given even more power to work outside the boundaries of the law in order to keep the "sub-human species" concern out of the public eye. SOG gains a new director by the name of Mr. Willard D. Brandon. Immediately Brandon enforces tight security and begins a sever campaign of "punishing" all who betray the organization. SOG begins to secretly monitor all hospitals,clinics and all communications within the US for signs of sub-human species, the "Great Hunt" begins. SOG hacks into every known computer network and satellite systems throughout the world. Project Heimdall launches a total of 18 more sensor satellites, however the system is still not fully operational at this time. SOG scientist feel that they are extremely close to going "operational" with Project Heimdall. Subject Four makes medical break through when she clones the first human. Subject Four states that she will not share this secret with any government, but she does agree to assist American scientist in a super-soldier type program known as "project superiority". Against Subject four's advice the scientist use soldiers to test the process and nearly all die, only two survive. Both of the soldiers then complete the program and it is successful. The soldiers overall performance is within the superhuman levels. Within three weeks the two soldiers are further tested and equipped with special hardware. During a test one soldier, who became disoriented and confused after a artillery explosion erupted near him. Turned and killed the other soldier and then fled. The government is currently still looking for this soldier.
2002-PRESENT	SOG is requested to create a special division that will assist in the Global War on Terrorism. Thus is born the "Black Operations section" lead by Subject One and his genetically enhanced soldiers known as the Myrmidon. Subject One hunts down and kills thousands of terror suspects. He is secretly awarded the Medal of Honor. SOG becomes ever more involved with political intrigue, several members of Congress find out about SOG's operations and threaten to expose them to the public. The following weeks all of the members to include their families are reported dead or missing. This becomes one of the biggest governmental cover ups in history. SOG existence is not revealed to the public. Two SOG detention facilities experience simultaneous breakouts. Over 16 individuals escape with valuable data, records and information is lost, leadership in SOG believe that they have been compromised by an outside source. A massive investigation is conducted within the ranks of SOG. Many people disappear throughout the organization, but nothing substantial is learned. SOG has received some reports of small groups of individuals calling themselves the "fallen" and the "exalted" have been using strange abilities in public. SOG is put forth 100% effort to find these individuals. Project Heimdall moves closer to completion. A section of Unit 13 is co-located within the SOG organization. The Vampire Nation seeks a truce with the US, although the elder advises against it. The truce is denied and SOG with the aid if Unit 13 begins a massive extermination of the Vampire Nation within the US.
