Daring invasions, seething rebellion, and viking raids...Adventures in Ivinia and on Hârn using HERO rules
Campaign Description
![]() A short background: Recent invasions by an aggressive Ivinian state against its neighbor have upset the balance in the region. The turmoil caused there threatens to extend across the Sea of Ivae to Orbaal in Hârn. Family ties bind these two areas, and while one nation seeks help, another attempts to prevent such help from arriving, while still another might seek further conquest taking advantage of the conflict...A Proxy War in Orbaal is inevitable. Further, the chaos could spark a second Jarin Rebellion... Ibanvaal: This expansionist state is the product of the ambition of the Dagen clan; it is Ivinia's most centralized state with many settlements controlled by members of the ruling clan. Fear of Ibanvaal caused both the formation of the Kingdom of Govyna and the creation of the Pendragondom of Seldenbaal. When Seldenbaal formed an alliance with Jarenmark, Ibanvaal's southern expansion was checked. Seeking to outflank the southern alliance, King Osidar of Ibanvaal invaded Menglana, an act that could plunge Ivinia into all out war. Menglana: Like Ibanvaal, Menglana is the product of one clan's ambition, the Stahlers. Unlike the Dagens of Ibanvaal, the Stahlers failed to consolidate their success and until the invasion from Ibanvaal faced an incipient revolt from another clan, the Storzars. Now, King Hlanakar III plays a dangerous game and waits, hoping that the Storzars and the Ibanvaaler invaders will cripple each other and allow him to defeat them both. Rogna: Rogna is a pirate kingdom, which used to be part of Menglana until it successfully revolted. The kingdom once controlled territories on the Ivinian mainland until they rebelled and joined Seldenbaal. Ibanvaals invasion of Menglana has given the King of Rogna a chance to gain new territory at the expense of Menglanas beleaguered King. Orbaal: A weak kingdom where petty warlords of Ivinian descent fight for dominance amidst their conquered subjects, the Jarin, a fiercely independent people beaten but not without hope. The nominal ruler of Orbaal, Alegar II Taareskeld owes tribute to the Stahlers of Menglana, but has not made payment in over twenty years. With the turmoil on the mainland, the Menglanans now come to collect on past debts.... Rules 50/50 CP/Disad, +16 Experience Points (of which 5pts must be spent on 1 lvl of Luck, and 6pts must be spent on 1 lvl of Combat Luck), NCM, (Pulp super skills might be legit with GM approval), equipment bought/given, hit locations, bleeding, knockdown, impairment, weapon and shield breakage I will also be using the rules addenda found here: http://www.culpan.org/harnwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.HarnHeroRules This covers both shek-pvar, divine, and psionic magic, but all such types of powers and characters need GM approval. IMPORTANT: Read the houserules.pdf for limitations, etc in character creation outside of a magic-using type. If you want to be a magic-using type, you must read the pdf's on shek-pvar, hedge magic or psionics as appropriate. Any gaps (ie psionics is not completed, nor are the spell lists for the various convocations) will be supplemented by GM conversions from HarnMaster rules. There is also located on this page, new skills, perks, talents, equipment, price lists, and the luck chips systems (which I will use) as well as HDv3 files including rules, templates, and prefabs. Characters can be from any of the polities described above, or any other kingdom in the area (Seldenbaal, Jarenmark, Lokis, Govyna, Harbaal, Chelemby, etc). It would take some hard convincing to have a character be from the southern part of Harn, a tribal character, or from further south than Chelemby, but as always...a good backstory and character concept could prevail. Implementation: More than likely, there will be different stories starting in different places with characters converging (or not) at some point. That means, of course, I can let in a large number of players. Players that were in my Black Wings over Angleland, and Return of the Red Hand games will have preference, however. I will not be running a War Game, though I would like for players to be participants in battles and conflict (and perhaps even turn the tide!). Also, time will be progressing in the background (ie the world will not wait for the PCs), and NPCs have their own agendas. Dallying could have grave consequences. The super-secret-GM timeline is in effect! Please PM/email me with any questions.
