Pathfinder Beta in Paizo's world of Golarion. We are running the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path
Campaign Description
Welcome to Varisia!
"Scarred by the depravity of ancient wizards and reclaimed by a wilderness of beasts and savages, only in the past few hundred years have the steps of civilized men again trod the wondrous and mysterious lands of Varisia." --F. Wesley Schnider (Players Guide to Rise of the Runelords, 2007) Runelords of Varisia is a D&D 3.5 game set in Paizo Publishing's new world of Golorion. We will be starting the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path and hopefully continuing from there (as it will not go up to lvl 20 like the the other APs). First Level Characters will be created using the Point Buy system on page 169 of the 3.5 DMG. You will start off with 32 points (High-powered campaign) Point costs are as follows: 9-14 cost 1pt/pt above 8, 15 costs 8 pts, 16 costs 10 pts, 17 costs 13 points, 18 costs 16 points (then add/subtract racial ability score modifiers, if any) Classes can be standard, or classes from WoTC supplements. You can also user racial variants of standard classes, like the changeling rogue variants. PrC's when we get there,I will decide on a case-by-case basis. No FR or Eberron world specific stuff, please. You should download the free pdf of the Player's Guide to RotR from the Paizo site. It has the dietes of the realm, and some very cool new feats and equipment for the world/AP. A backstory is always a plus since it will help me to add in adveture hooks and tie in the AP specifically to the character's background. I am only accepting five players and this game is by Invitation Only. Thanks and Happy Gaming!
Quotes
"Like no other land I have visited in all my vast and fevered travels, here in Varisia art and environment are truly one. The monoliths of a mysterious and romantic people weather the ages, telling the voiceless tales of a race lost to silence. Each inspired day colors the skies in vivid palettes of placid blue, raging red-orange, and sorrowed gray, heavenly emotions painted across an endless, cloudless canvas. Even the natives live like masterpieces on display, their tattoos becoming the likenesses of their lives, their dances telling their endless tales, and their wisdom tempered by murmured harmonies echoing from both past and future."
Cevil "Redwing" Charms, Esq. Eidolon (RotRL PG, 2007)
"Savagery and regressivity epitomize the disfigured lands of Varisia. Jagged mountain chains break the worthless, dusty clay at queer and reckless lengths. Tangled forests grow wild with titan weeds, the flora of these fecund briars little more than tenacious brambles. Blasted reaches of cracked earth and rolling scrub form the parched paradises of all manner of backward savages, including the doomed final generations of humanity's brutish ancestors. And everywhere the land bears the scars of a forgotten people whose eroding ruins and crude attempts at artistry litter a landscape already scarred by its own geological leprosy."
Darvayne Gios Amprei; Merciless: Abendego, Belkzen, Varisia, and Other Hells (RotRL PG, 2007)
"His choice to live off the land is not necessitated by a dislike of cities, but rather an urge for constant adventure and the hardship it provides. Not to mention cities provide ale, and what dwarf can hold a grudge against something that houses his favorite past time."
Ziomir Gorn, personal musings
"Y'don't know how t'play nice wit' animals. Time fer a nap gobbie!"
Ziomir, Glass and Wrath
As the barbarian closes, the man takes a step back and kicks out with is leg, hitting Franjakh in the throat. Jakh sees stars as his trachea is nearly crushed and he crumples to the ground.
Tsuto's nasty kick
Franjak on his way to let the others question the weasel stops dead in his tracks. In a quick stride and move he has regained the grip of Tsutoīs forehead and yanks out the tongee. This time not holding back...With a tearing sound something snaps and the barbarian moves away from the uncooperative prisoner.
" Heīll be writing down your answers, or Iīll rip the next dangling tentacle off of his body! He seems smart enough to write!" Franjak drops something reddish on the floor, and states. " Zio, I need that drink now. That creature sickens me. Disgracing ones family...thatīs not the way of a brave warrior. " Tsuto's fate courtesy of Franjak (Beneath the Glassworks)
Snorting in annoyance, Ziomir barks out after Soleria "Does yer God grant powers fer daft actions? Yer runn'n 'cross a bridge with a sentry above. Any moment gobbo's could'a flooded out if he had a brain t'call out. Y'd have been easy pickens..." Then boasting he says, "Yer bloody well lucky I'm a skilled shot."
Ziomir Gorn, Thistletop
'You had your chance... Now make your peace with Lamashtu or whoever you worship these days, cos she's not going to be impressed when we're done with you, bitch!'
